2015-16 Health Occupation Students

CGCC Health Occupations Students

The students above are some of the participants in the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center’s Health Occupations class. They are posing in this photo to show-off their new jackets they got from selling candles. This week, the health occupation students practiced their skills in front of Mrs. Wilson’s 8th and 10th grade students from Calhoun County.  This visit is to inform prospective students what programs are available and encourage them to consider taking courses at the Career Center.  The current Health Occupations students demonstrated how to take their vital signs, make a bed, take weight, and wash their hands the appropriate way.

These types of things are preparing them for their clinical, which starts shortly after Christmas break. Once the decision is made as to which students are ready to be placed, uniforms will be ordered and shipped.  Those students will then be at Minnie Hamilton Health Care in Grantsville, practicing on their patients. The skills performed by the students at Minnie Hamilton Health Care will be taking vital signs and the things they have been taught and are certified to do.

Thanks to those who supported the CGCC Health Occupations Program by purchasing candles!
